Jörgen Sundeqvist was born in Nykoping, Sweden on April 19th, 1962 to a family of musicians. His grandparents and other relatives played the accordion and his uncle played the cello, string bass and guitar. Jörgen began playing the accordion at the age of seven and shortly thereafter started to study the accordion under the tutelage of Hans-Erik Naas, one of Sweden's outstanding accordionists and teachers, with whom he eventually made a number of records and played on many TV and radio programs.

During the course of his studies he also took instructions on string-bass, harmony, musical form and ear training at Framnas Music School. Jörgen decided to come to America and study with the famous concert accordionist and teacher Anthony Galla-Rini for two solid years in order to further his knowledge of music theory and to expand his concert repertory on the accordion with the intention of establishing a career as a concert accordionist, composer, arranger and teacher. He has given solo concerts in many countries and has been soloist on television and radio both in America and in Sweden. Concerts have been given in Sweden, Norway, Finland, U.S.A., Canada, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Austria, France, Russia, England, Scotland, Spain, Denmark and New Zealand.

His outstanding talents prompted Galla-Rini to go on a concert tour with him as a concert accordion duo in 1981. They toured Western Canada, United States and Continental Europe. A long playing recording was also made at the same time in Sweden. He has also toured and given concerts together with the leading accordionists Yuri Kazakov, Yuri Vostrelov, Oleg Sharov and Carmen Carrozza.

He has also performed with the accordion in many unique and special combinations such as with the church organ, played by Hakan Dahlen, one of the leading organists in Sweden. They perform both original compositions and Baroque music. A CD has also been recorded with the duo.

Jörgen has also been soloist in many symphony concerts with different symphony orchestras in Sweden. Jörgen is a well renowned teacher in Sweden and is currently teaching at Kramfors cultural school.

Many famous composers have written music for accordion, especially for Jörgen. Among them are the famous composers John Gart, Sven-Eric Johanson, Johannes Degen, Olof Lindgren, Gunnar Holmberg and Fredrik Högberg. Jörgen has a great knowledge of original accordion music from all over the world. He is also frequently engaged as an adjudicator in many International accordion competitions all over the world.

Jörgen is a member of the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and Vice President of the Swedish Accordionist's Association. In 1994 he was elected the Accordionist of the Year in Sweden.
